Open standards
groups are non-profit groups whose primary goal is to increase the acceptance
and use of open source technologies through the application,
development and promotion of standards.

Open Group
The Open
Group is a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium, whose
vision of Boundaryless Information FlowTM will enable
access to integrate information within and between enterprises
based on open standards and global interoperability.

Object Management Group (OMG)
OMG is a
consortium that produces and maintains computer industry
specifications for interoperable enterprise applications. OMG's
flagship membership is the multi-platform Model Driven
Architecture(MDA), which is based on the modeling specifications
the MOF (Meta Object Facility), UML (Unified Modeling Language),
XML (Extensible Markup Language) and CWM (Common Warehouse
Metamodel)

Open Source Initiative (OSI)
The Open
Source Initiative (OSI) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to
managing and promoting the Open Source Definition for the good
of the community, specifically through the OSI Certified Open
Source Software certification mark and program.

Open source
software foundations
support the
development of numerous open source projects like web servers,
web browsers, email clients, integrated development environments and
many others.

Software Foundation
(FSF)
The
Free Software Foundation (FSF), established in 1985, is dedicated to
promoting computer user's rights to use, study, copy, modify, and
redistribute computer programs. The FSF promotes the development and
use of free software, particularly the GNU operating system, used
widely in its GNU/Linux variant.

Apache
Software Foundation (ASF) provides support for the Apache
community of open-source software projects. Apache HTTP
server, Ant, Struts, and Tomcat are some of the widely known
projects developed by Apache community.

Mozilla Foundation
Established
in 2003, with start-up support from Netscape, the Mozilla Foundation
provides organizational, legal and financial support for Mozilla
open source software projects which include Mozilla Firefox and
Thunderbird.

JBoss
The JBoss
open source Foundation (JOSF) is a community of companies and
sponsors created to bring together open source projects that
share the common business model of professional open source as
well as integrate with the JBoss Enterprise Middleware System (JEMS).
